NEW GLUE: Ruby Caster
"My first greatest love is my brother, and all of my work will be a distant second for the rest of my life."
Ruby Caster is a writer. She enjoys walking around!
1) What is the first thing that burned you?
At different times wanting to either speed up or slow down time, and realizing I am a passenger on the train that is time and not the conductor.
2) What do you smell like?
Sweat and serums.
3) What do you feel is more true: Every crazy person is a movie, every movie is a crazy person, or neither?
Every crazy person is a movie.
4) How does your heart feel?
Wet and expansive.
5) What was it like to ride in your parents car as a kid? What about now—or equivalent?
Relaxing, as a child. As an adult, I am much more critical of their driving. I close my eyes less.
6) Does your misery love company?
My misery loves company for a short and sweet visit. Not too long, though, I have things to do!
7) What does a potato chip mean to you? What does it taste like?
A potato chip is a desperate snack. It is better accompanied by a dip whose flavor and texture overpowers it. A potato chip alone feels cumbersome in my mouth.
8) What does touching feel like?
Touching feels like listening.
9) Do you belong to and on Earth?
I belong to Earth and on Earth as part of a much bigger universe and consciousness that I also belong to.
10) What is your first memory and what does it mean to your work?
My first memory is seeing my brother the day he was born. I wore a sparkly red dress with bells on it. I remember my dad holding me and pointing to which baby was my brother through the nursery window, where all the newborns were on display like pastries. I remember banging on the glass to get his attention and my dad telling me not to do that. I was two. My first greatest love is my brother, and all of my work will be a distant second for the rest of my life.
